Medicines management training for schools
Currently, schools can access medicines management training through online resources. There may be a small charge for some of this regionally approved training. Discounts are available for returning organisations.
The 5 to 19 Healthy Child Programme is not able to provide any face to face medicine management training for schools. But we can offer health advice and support regarding long term conditions and signpost to accredited training.

Online training
Each of the four areas of medicine management require a separate login for each school to access. You can find details below explaining how to access the websites and which modules should be completed. Within each session, there are additional modules if a member of staff has a further interest, but these are not compulsory.
Support with care planning
If you need support with care planning, you can download templates for common conditions. There are templates for anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy. Parents and carers, or young people themselves, can help to complete them.
Extra support
Support from a healthcare worker should come from a practitioner who knows the child or young person well and understands their specific health needs. This may be a specialist nurse, practice nurse, GP or outpatient department who monitors the condition and manages any medication. This link person should be known to the parent, carer or young person.
