Introducing Together Time

When babies are born, they are ready to communicate and relate to the people around them. They thrive with attentive parents or carers who are curious about their experiences. Together Time helps you to learn how to be with your baby in a way that supports their development.

Together Time is a supportive group. It can help you to connect with your baby, and share your experiences with other parents and carers.

We know that parenting can be hard. So at Together Time, you will find a relaxed and comfortable space for you and your baby, however you are feeling on the day.  We will provide a safe space to help you to:

  • strengthen your relationship with your baby
  • be with and observe your baby in the here and now
  • explore your baby's thoughts, feelings and behaviours
  • follow your baby's lead and cues

Who can attend

Together Time is for babies aged 3 to 8 months and parents or carers who want to:

  • explore or improve their relationship with their baby
  • learn about baby-led play
  • find it difficult to understand what their baby wants or feels
  • share their experiences and feelings of parenthood with other parents

What to expect

Register your interest in a group by completing the form below. Or speak to your health visitor, nursery nurse, or child and family centre worker, who can give your details to us, with your permission.

Once we have your details, we will call you to tell you more about the group. We can also answer any questions you may have. If you decide you would like to attend, you will be invited to an introductory session. This is an opportunity for you to see what the group involves, and meet other parents and babies who will also be attending.

After the introductory session, there will be 1 session each week for 6 weeks. All sessions are held in term time.

Each session involves a discussion around a specific theme or topic related to the experience of parenting. It also involves the opportunity to practice 'together time' moments. This is where you watch, think and are curious about your baby. These moments are an important part of helping you to feel connected to your baby.

Each session will last 90 minutes. The session is split into 2 halves with a 15 minute break. Snacks and cold drinks are provided each week.

To register your interest in an upcoming group, please complete the form below. We will then be in touch with you to discuss the group in more detail.

What other people say about Together Time

Before this group I didn’t know I could connect and play with my baby at this age. This group has taught me what interaction and connection looks like.

This group has helped me to better interact with my daughter. I could read about feeding and sleeping in books, but here I learnt about the skills which could not be taught in books.

My anxiety was through the roof during the first session, but then I realised that everyone is lovely and this is a safe space to share my feelings and I know I won’t be judged. I’ve really enjoyed Together Time.

The group has given me the confidence to know what to do. Before, I worried about the future and how to deal with things in the best way. But now I know I don’t have to be perfect.

My sister is really jealous that her child is too old to do Together Time because she can see how much I enjoy it!
